Why self-tanner was the wrong tool for this
Self-tanner is a commitment. It develops over six to eight hours, it lasts a week, and if it goes patchy you wait it out.
That is fine when you are planning ahead. It is useless at seven in the evening when you have already changed twice and the marks on your shins are the reason you are changing again.
This is makeup for your body, not a tan. Tinted, buildable pigment that evens out the contrast between a mark and the skin around it, in about a minute, and comes off in the shower.
This covers. It does not treat.
Nothing here fades a mark, lightens a scar or removes a vein — those are all still exactly the same tomorrow morning. It is cosmetic coverage, the way foundation is for your face. It needs a minute to set before it stops transferring, and on very light or very tight fabric we would still give it two. And it washes off completely in the shower, which is the feature, not a flaw.
Half blended, so you can see what it does
Same shin, one pass, no filter. Coverage is makeup-level, not erasure.
What one layer looks like
Same legs, same light. Coverage is makeup-level, not erasure.
What it actually does
What you have been doing instead
Against self-tanner
| Self-tanner | Cover & Glow | |
|---|---|---|
| Ready in | 6 to 8 hours | About a minute |
| If it goes wrong | Wait a week | Wash it off |
| Streaking | The usual risk | Blend and check in the mirror |
| Commitment | You are that colour all week | Tonight only |
| Coverage of marks | Tints everything evenly | Buildable where you need it |
| Smell | The tanner smell | Light, fades as it sets |
Three steps, once you have the shade
What people actually said
Including the ones that name a limitation.
Three functions in one week and I did not think about my legs once. Blends in about a minute and I could not see where it stopped.
First time I rushed and got a faint mark on a cream kurta — came out in the wash, but my fault. Now I wait the full minute and there is no transfer at all.
I have faint veins I have been self-conscious about since my thirties. This does not remove them, and it does not claim to. It makes them much less noticeable, which is all I wanted.
Self-tanner always went patchy on my ankles. This I control completely, and if it looks wrong I wash it off. Obvious in hindsight.
Two shades is workable but I am between them and have to mix. Coverage itself is very good, especially on old mosquito-bite marks.
That was my worry — staining the bedsheets or the towel. It rinses off fully in the shower, no scrubbing, no orange.
Even legs tonight, back to normal tomorrow
